Joint liquidators Christopher Lawton and Paul George of Business Helpline Group Limited were appointed on 15 June 2026 to wind up Grimhilda's Kitchen Ltd, a specialist retailer registered at Northlight Parade, Nelson, Lancashire.
The appointment was made by the members and creditors of the company through a creditors' voluntary liquidation, or CVL. A CVL is an insolvent winding-up resolved by the company's members at the directors' request, without a court order. It is the single largest stream of UK corporate insolvency by volume.
The company
Grimhilda's Kitchen Ltd was incorporated on 14 May 2024 and carried out retail sale of new goods in specialised stores, the description assigned under its Companies House classification. The company filed its last accounts to 31 May 2025 on a micro-entity basis. Its registered office at the time of the liquidation notice was Office 038, Northlight Parade, Nelson, Lancashire, BB9 5EG.
The liquidators
Lawton holds IP number 23818 and George holds IP number 9361. Both are licensed insolvency practitioners, the IP number being the licence identifier issued by their recognised professional body. Both practise from Business Helpline Group Limited, whose address matches the company's registered office at Northlight Parade, Nelson.
As joint liquidators, either can generally act alone unless the terms of their appointment specify otherwise. Their role is to realise the company's assets and distribute the proceeds to creditors in the order of priority set out in insolvency legislation.
The director
Richard Alan Tingley was appointed as a director on 14 May 2024, the date of incorporation, and remains the sole current officer on the Companies House record. No resignations are recorded.
Secured charges
No secured charges are registered against Grimhilda's Kitchen Ltd at Companies House, meaning no secured creditors hold a fixed or floating charge over the company's assets.
Creditors wishing to submit a claim in the liquidation should contact Business Helpline Group Limited at the Nelson address. The appointment was published in the London Gazette on 22 June 2026.
Common questions
Are you owed money by Grimhilda'S Kitchen Limited?
In a creditors' voluntary liquidation you are an unsecured creditor unless you hold a registered charge or retention of title. The liquidators will write to known creditors with a proof-of-debt form. A statement of affairs prepared by the directors and the chair of the creditors' decision procedure should be available on request. Read more about proof of debt and where you sit in the creditor hierarchy.
Did you work at Grimhilda'S Kitchen Limited?
In a CVL, employees are typically dismissed at or shortly after the liquidator's appointment. Wages owed up to a statutory cap, holiday pay, notice pay and redundancy may be claimable from the Redundancy Payments Service. The liquidators will normally provide RP1 case-reference numbers to the affected staff. See gov.uk: your rights if your employer is insolvent.
Do you hold a deposit, gift card or undelivered order from Grimhilda'S Kitchen Limited?
Customers with paid-but-undelivered orders, gift cards or deposits rank as unsecured creditors in the liquidation. Where you paid by credit card and the amount was over £100, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 may let you claim from the card issuer for breach of contract or misrepresentation by the supplier; the rules apply per item, not per transaction, and the card must be a regulated credit card. Debit-card payments may be recoverable via chargeback.
Are you a director of a company connected to Grimhilda'S Kitchen Limited?
Section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986 applies the moment the company enters liquidation. If you intend to be involved in another company using the same or a similar name within five years, you must rely on one of the three statutory exceptions and file the relevant notice. Acting in breach is a criminal offence and exposes you to personal liability for the successor's debts.
