Editorial standards

Insolvency News is not a member of any industry self-regulator. These are the standards we hold ourselves to. They are stricter than IPSO's Editors' Code on accuracy and sourcing because every article on the site is generated from a public record and must be traceable back to it.

Sourcing

Every article is grounded in a single Gazette notice and the Companies House record for the named company at the time of the notice. We do not draft articles from press releases, secondary reporting, social media, leaks, or anonymous tips. Where supplementary reporting exists and is reliable, we cite it.

Accuracy

We do not publish facts that aren't in the structured source bundle. The writer is forbidden from drawing on prior knowledge of named companies, directors or firms. We verify each insolvency practitioner's IP number against the Insolvency Service's recognised-practitioner register and flag any mismatch.

Fairness

We report public records. We do not characterise companies or directors with adjectives that aren't supported by a specific fact in the source bundle. Where a company has been sold, restructured or saved, we update the article footer to reflect that material change.

AI disclosure

Every article on this site is drafted by Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 large-language model and then human-reviewed by a named editor before publication. The model has read-only access to the structured Gazette + Companies House bundle for the notice and may not draw on its own prior knowledge of named companies, directors or firms. The methodology is described in full on the methodology page. Every article footer carries an explicit "AI-drafted, human-reviewed" disclosure together with the date and the named reviewer.

Right of reply

If you are the subject of an article we have published and you wish to respond, write to editorial@insolvency-news.uk. Material responses are appended to the article with attribution.

Corrections

See the corrections policy for how we handle factual errors, and the corrections log for every material correction we have published.

Independence and funding

Insolvency News is self-funded by the founder of its publisher company (Tooltap Limited, company number 16206381). We do not run advertising, do not accept sponsored content, do not take affiliate revenue, do not have commercial relationships with insolvency firms, secured lenders, or any of the entities that appear in our coverage, and do not accept payment to publish, suppress, modify or amplify any article. See the funding section on our About page for the full disclosure.

Complaints

If you believe an article breaches these standards, write to editorial@insolvency-news.uk. Where the complaint concerns conduct that would meet the IPSO Editors' Code or the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, we will treat it as such, even though we are not formally signed up to either.
