Gary Alan Ford, director of the Harefield property firm Alan C. Ford Limited, has filed a Section 216 prohibited-name notice to carry on substantially the same business through a successor vehicle, Alan C Ford (Homes) Ltd. Alan C. Ford Limited entered administration on 15 June 2026, with Greenfield Recovery Limited appointed to handle the case.
Section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986 prohibits a director of a company that has entered insolvent liquidation from being involved in another company using the same or a similar name for five years, unless a statutory exception applies. The notice was published in the London Gazette on 1 July 2026 under rule 22.4 of the Insolvency (England and Wales) Rules 2016. It allows Ford to act without committing a criminal offence and, where trading through a company, without incurring personal liability for that company's debts.
The successor trading names
The notice sets out that Alan C Ford (Homes) Ltd will trade as Alan C. Ford (Homes), Alan C. Ford, ACF and alancford. Those names overlap directly with the trading names used by Alan C. Ford Limited, which traded as Alan C. Ford and ACF from its registered office at Primrose Cottage, Hill End Road, Harefield, Uxbridge.
The company in administration
Alan C. Ford Limited was incorporated on 28 October 1966 and is registered under SIC code 68209, which covers letting and operating of owned or leased real estate. Greenfield Recovery Limited, of Trinity House, 28-30 Blucher Street, Birmingham, is named as administrator in the Gazette notice, and the company's registered address is now listed care of that firm.

Common questions
Are you a director of the successor company?
A prohibited-name Gazette notice typically documents one of the three statutory exceptions to Section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986 (the rule against re-use of a similar name by a former director of a liquidated company). The exception is only valid if the notice meets the timing and content requirements in the relevant Rule. Read more on prohibited names.
Do you trade with the successor company?
A valid notice does not by itself revive the liabilities of the liquidated company. The successor company is a separate legal entity and the directors are personally exposed only if Section 216 is breached.
