FRP Advisory Trading Limited has been appointed to wind up a North Yorkshire road haulage business, with Iain Townsend and David Antony Willis named joint liquidators on 11 May 2026.
The appointment covers G.C.S. Johnson (Skeeby) Limited, which carries on freight transport by road and was incorporated on 15 February 1974. Its registered office at the time of the notice was Barton Quarry, Barton, Richmond, DL10 6NF. The Gazette notice records a change of registered address to FRP Advisory's office at 1st Floor, 34 Falcon Court, Preston Farm Business Park, Stockton on Tees, TS18 3TX.
The liquidation process
A creditors' voluntary liquidation, or CVL, is an insolvent winding-up resolved by the company's members at the request of its directors, without a court order. It is the single largest stream of UK corporate insolvency by volume. In this case the creditors made the appointment.
Townsend holds IP number 15850 and Willis holds IP number 9180, both licensed insolvency practitioners at FRP Advisory Trading Limited in Stockton on Tees. Either may act alone unless the appointment specifies otherwise.
The directors
Four directors are recorded at Companies House. Geoffrey Colin Skinner Johnson and Charlotte Mary Johnson hold directorships with no recorded appointment date in the bundle, indicating long-standing tenure. Alison Mary Johnson and Joseph Stuart Johnson were both appointed on 11 November 2021. Charlotte Mary Johnson also served as company secretary but resigned from that role on 11 November 2021, the same date the two newer directors joined the board.
Secured lenders
Two outstanding charges are registered against the company. National Westminster Bank PLC holds a debenture created on 8 May 2007, giving it fixed and floating charges over the undertaking and all property and assets present and future, including goodwill, uncalled capital, buildings, fixtures, plant and machinery. A floating charge covers assets that change from time to time, such as stock and debtors, and crystallises on insolvency.
Rbs Invoice Finance Limited holds a second charge, an all assets debenture created on 21 March 2013, carrying fixed and floating charges over the same broad class of assets, including goodwill, uncalled capital, buildings, fixtures, and fixed plant and machinery. Both charges remain outstanding.
Creditors wishing to submit a claim should contact FRP Advisory Trading Limited at the Stockton on Tees address. The official appointment notice was published in the London Gazette and the underlying Companies House record can be searched via Companies House.
Common questions
Are you owed money by G.c.s. Johnson (Skeeby) Limited?
In a creditors' voluntary liquidation you are an unsecured creditor unless you hold a registered charge or retention of title. The liquidators will write to known creditors with a proof-of-debt form. A statement of affairs prepared by the directors and the chair of the creditors' decision procedure should be available on request. Read more about proof of debt and where you sit in the creditor hierarchy.
Did you work at G.c.s. Johnson (Skeeby) Limited?
In a CVL, employees are typically dismissed at or shortly after the liquidator's appointment. Wages owed up to a statutory cap, holiday pay, notice pay and redundancy may be claimable from the Redundancy Payments Service. The liquidators will normally provide RP1 case-reference numbers to the affected staff. See gov.uk: your rights if your employer is insolvent.
Do you hold a deposit, gift card or undelivered order from G.c.s. Johnson (Skeeby) Limited?
Customers with paid-but-undelivered orders, gift cards or deposits rank as unsecured creditors in the liquidation. Where you paid by credit card and the amount was over £100, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 may let you claim from the card issuer for breach of contract or misrepresentation by the supplier; the rules apply per item, not per transaction, and the card must be a regulated credit card. Debit-card payments may be recoverable via chargeback.
Are you a director of a company connected to G.c.s. Johnson (Skeeby) Limited?
Section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986 applies the moment the company enters liquidation. If you intend to be involved in another company using the same or a similar name within five years, you must rely on one of the three statutory exceptions and file the relevant notice. Acting in breach is a criminal offence and exposes you to personal liability for the successor's debts.
