The High Court of Justice made a winding-up order against Ethical Power Connections Ltd on 20 May 2026, placing the Devon-based electrical contractor into compulsory liquidation. Compulsory liquidation is the court-ordered form of winding up, imposed by a judge rather than resolved voluntarily by a company's members. The case number is 000137 of 2026.
HMRC filed the petition on 9 January 2026, and the court made the order nearly four and a half months later. S Carter of the Official Receiver's South West office was appointed liquidator the same day. The Official Receiver is a civil servant of the Insolvency Service who takes office as liquidator automatically when a winding-up order is made. Carter can be contacted at SouthWest.OR@insolvency.gov.uk or by post at PO Box 16661, Birmingham, B2 2HY.
About the company

The company has traded under several names since its incorporation on 6 December 2007. Secured charges
Four outstanding charges are registered at Companies House. HSBC UK Bank PLC holds a fixed and floating charge over all assets, created on 10 April 2025 and delivered on 15 April 2025. A fixed and floating charge gives the holder security over both specific identified assets and a pool of assets that changes over time, crystallising on insolvency.
Lloyds Bank PLC holds two outstanding charges: one created on 16 November 2021 and delivered on 24 November 2021, and an earlier charge created on 8 June 2020 and delivered on 11 June 2020.
Ethical Power Group Limited also holds a registered charge, created on 26 July 2017 and delivered to Companies House on 2 August 2017.

Do you hold a deposit, gift card or undelivered order from Ethical Power Connections Limited?
Customers rank as unsecured creditors in the liquidation. Where you paid by credit card and the amount was over £100, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 may let you claim from the card issuer for breach of contract or misrepresentation by the supplier; the rules apply per item, not per transaction, and the card must be a regulated credit card. The Official Receiver also has a statutory duty to investigate director conduct and report under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
